The Shiv Sena Shinde faction has announced the list of 15 candidates for the Maharashtra assembly elections. Among them, 13 candidates are from Shiv Sena and 2 are from allies. In the list, Shayna NC of the Hindu Sena faction of the BJP will contest from Mumbadevi Assembly constituency. Shinde Sena may get 1 or 2 more seats. Negotiations with the BJP are still ongoing.
On Sunday, the Shiv Sena of Eknath Shinde announced the list of 20 candidates. In this list, Sanjay Nirupam got the Dindoshi ticket and Milind Deora got the Worli ticket. Notably, Milind Deora will contest from Worli MLA Aditya Thackeray.
Former BJP leader Murji Patel has contested the Andheri East seat. This seat has been in the news as Shinde had earlier planned to field former encounter expert and Antilia case accused Pradeep Sharma’s wife from here. But there was strong opposition from the Bharatiya Janata Party and plans had to be changed thereafter.
Milind Deora to contest election against Aditya Thackeray
Milind Deora was recently nominated to the Lok Sabha by the Shiv Sena. He will now contest against Aditya Thackeray for the Worli seat. Worli is a gathering place for the Maratha middle class, fishermen community and wealthy class, and I believe Milind Deora can leave some mark. Before his name was announced, Deola had said on social media platform “X” that he was focused on completing the pending trial against Worika.
Aditya Thackeray made a sarcastic statement.
Aditya Thackeray, the current Worli MLA, said Mahayut could not find any candidate to contest against him in the past five years. Aditya, however, scoffed that many candidates were only in the race for their own publicity. Furthermore, sitting MP from neighboring Mahim constituency Sada Sarvankar claimed that people will vote for those who carry forward the ideological legacy of Shiv Sena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray. Meanwhile, Aditya Thackeray’s aide and Bandra East constituency candidate Varun Sardesai said that we are fighting for this election to make Uddhav Thackeray the chief minister again.
Many important leaders of the state, including Eknath Shinde, have submitted their nominations.
Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena president Eknath Shinde on Monday filed his nomination from the Kopri-Pachpakhadi assembly constituency for the upcoming assembly elections. This seat is located in Thane district. Son Ritwik and his family were present during the nominations. He prayed at his home before filing his nomination. Eknath Shinde won the seat in the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections. Also in the earlier elections in 2014, Eknath Shinde won with 100,420 Shiv Sena votes. The Shiv Sena (UBT) has fielded Kedar Dighe, nephew of the late illustrious leader of the Sena, Anand Dighe, in this seat.
