According to a report by Bangladeshi news website Dhaka Tribune, deceased Rubel’s father Rafikul Islam filed a case against Shakib at Dhaka’s Adabor Police Station. Rubel was a textile worker who died during a demonstration.

On August 5, Rubel reportedly took part in a protest march on the ring road in Adabor. During the rally, someone allegedly opened fire on the crowd as part of a well-planned criminal conspiracy, resulting in Rubel receiving bullet injuries in the chest and abdomen. Rubel was rushed to hospital. But he succumbed to his injuries on August 7.
