The police and army are continuing operations against banned organizations in Churachandpur and Imphal West districts of Manipur. Security forces have also been successful in many different operations in recent years. The Indian Army, Assam Rifles have conducted several successful joint operations with the Manipur Police and other security forces. These include the hilly and valley areas of Churachandpur, Kangpokpi and Bishnupur districts of Manipur. Twenty-five weapons, ammunition and other war-related items were recovered here.
The Assam Rifles and Manipur Police took action based on specific information from Nepalikuti in Ramatantambu village in Kampoppi district. Security forces seized numerous weapons and ammunition there. As part of a joint operation in the area on December 19, security forces seized a Point 303 sniper rifle (modified version), a Point 22 rifle, two single-barreled rifles, a 9 mm pistol, an improvised explosive Items such as the device, 100 grams of explosives, two tube launchers and other ammunition were recovered.
Numerous explosives were discovered on December 18 and 19
Meanwhile, the Indian Army and Manipur Police launched operations in border areas of Kangpokpi and Imphal East districts on December 18 and 19. During the period, it carried a machine gun, two INSAS rifles, two automatic rifles, a Point 32 pistol, a 2-inch mortar, a 12-caliber single-barreled cannon, a large-caliber launcher and two Pompeii Guns, ammunition and several explosive materials were recovered.
Subsequently, on December 20, the Indian Army and Manipur Police established a joint motor vehicle check post at Torbang Bazaar in Churachandpur district. At the same time, a suspect escaped with an unregistered 0.32 mm pistol and was arrested. One day later, on 21 December, a joint operation was carried out in the Watalambi area. During this period, two people were arrested with weapons.
The recovered items were handed over to Manipur Police
The Army, Assam Rifles and Manipur Police recovered some explosives in Wattalambi district. During the process, two 7.62mm modified sniper rifles, one 7.62mm SLR rifle, two single-barreled rifles, one 51mm mortar and a modified grenade launcher, four improvised explosive devices and grenades were recovered. In another operation, two people were also arrested and a carbine machine gun was seized. The recovered items were handed over to Manipur police.
