The Supreme Court has given significant relief to companies selling coconut oil. In its order, the Supreme Court said that coconut oil in small packages can be used as cooking oil, which means that only 5% tax will be levied on it now. Previously, there was a 15-year dispute over whether a small packet of coconut oil was used in cosmetics or as a cooking oil. This will also affect other small oil packages, the prices of which are likely to fall in the coming days. Currently, cosmetics are subject to 18% GST.
