Sawan 2024 Chautha Monday: The month of Sawan is considered to be the favorite month of Lord Shiva and every Monday of this month is especially worshiped by Shiva devotees. Today is the fourth Monday of Saavan month. The fourth Monday of Sawan is considered very important for the proper worship of Lord Shiva. Devotees of Mahadev observe fast on this day. Water, milk, belpatra, datura etc. are offered to Shivalinga. Then pray to Lord Shiva for happiness, prosperity and fulfillment of wishes.
How to worship Shiva on the fourth Monday of Sawan?
1. Bathing and purification- On the fourth Monday of Sawan, wake up early in the morning, take bath and wear clean clothes. Clean the place of worship at home and sprinkle Ganga water.
2. Fast and resolution– If you are fasting on the fourth Monday of Sawan, then take a resolution to fast while meditating on Lord Shiva. Adopt the rule of eating fruits or eating only water throughout the day. At the same time, take care of your health also.
3. Pooja material- Shivalinga, idol of Lord Shiva, water, milk, curd, ghee, honey, Ganga water (panchamrit), belpatra, datura, aak flowers, roli, mauli thread, rice (akshat), lamp, incense sticks, sweets and fruits, incense, Kapoor.
4. Consecration of Shivlinga- First of all, offer Ganga water or pure water on Shivling. After this, do Abhishekam with Panchamrit (milk, curd, ghee, honey, and Ganga water). Purify the Shivalinga again by offering pure water.
5. Worship– Offer Akshat (rice), Belpatra and Dhatura on Shivalinga. Offer flowers to Lord Shiva and light a lamp. Perform Aarti by burning incense and camphor. Then chant the mantras of Lord Shiva. You can chant the mantra “Om Namah Shivay” 108 times.
6. Prasad and Aarti- After the puja, offer prasad to Lord Shiva.
Praise Lord Shiva with Aarti. After Aarti, distribute the Prasad among the devotees and consume it yourself.
7. End of fast- After fasting throughout the day, conclude the fast by performing puja in the evening. You can have fruits or food. By worshiping Lord Shiva with this method on the fourth Monday of Sawan, your wishes will be fulfilled and you will get the blessings of Mahadev.
8. Auspicious time- According to the Panchang, Abhijeet Muhurta will be on the fourth Monday of Sawan i.e. 12th August from 11:59 am to 12:52 pm. This time is going to be the best for worshiping Mahadev.
