Sawan Shivratri 2024: Shivratri is a special festival of Sanatan Dharma. Although the festival of Shivratri comes every month, but Shivratri of the month of Sawan has special significance. According to the Hindu calendar, Shivratri fast is observed on the Chaturdashi date of Krishna Paksha of every month. On this day, Kavad pilgrims offer Ganga water to Shivalinga. According to the Hindu calendar, Chaturdashi Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Sawan month will start from 2nd August i.e. today at 3:26 pm and this date will end on 3rd August i.e. tomorrow at 3:50 pm. According to Udayatithi, the fast of Sawan Shivratri is being observed on 2nd August i.e. today.

Sawan Shivratri Pujan Vidhi
Take bath in the morning on the day of Sawan Shivratri. After that, wear white clothes and offer water to Shivling and chant ‘Om Namah Shivay’. In Shiv Purana, there is a provision to worship Lord Shiva at all four hours of Saavan Shivratri. Abhishekam of Shivalinga should be done with Ganga water in the morning, milk in the afternoon, curd in the evening and honey and Ganga water at night. Those fasting on this day must recite Shiva Purana or Shivashtak. Conclude the puja with Shiva Aarti.
