October 17, 2024: A chilling plot to assassinate Bollywood superstar Salman Khan near his Panvel farmhouse has come to light, according to a chargesheet filed by Navi Mumbai police on Thursday. The charge sheet revealed that the gang led by jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi gave the actor a contract worth Rs 25 lakh.

The charge sheet names five individuals involved in the conspiracy. According to police, the gang was preparing to purchase advanced weapons from Pakistan, including AK-47, AK-92 and M-16 rifles, as well as Turkish-made Zigana pistols, the same weapons used in the killings of Punjabis. The accused reportedly recruited boys below 18 years of age to carry out the assassinations and the recruits were holed up in various locations in Pune, Raigad, Navi Mumbai, Thane and Gujarat.

The gang of 60 to 70 people was following Salman Khan, especially his home in Bandra, Panvel farmhouse and Goregaon Film City Activities around. According to the charge sheet, the conspiracy to murder the actor was hatched between August 2023 and April 2024.

Investigation revealed that Sukkha, a key member of the gang who was arrested in Panipat, Haryana on Thursday, assigned the attack to designated gunmen Ajay Kashyap alias AK and Four other co-conspirators. During a reconnaissance, Kashyap and his team determined that high-end weapons were needed to carry out the assassination, as Salman Khan had heavy security personnel and numerous bulletproof vehicles.

Even more shocking news is that Sukar was found to have contacted a Pakistani arms dealer named Dogar through a video call. During the call, Dogar displayed advanced firearms wrapped in a shawl, including an AK-47. Sukar agreed to pay 50% upfront for the weapons, with the balance to be paid on delivery to India.

The police investigation also found that the gunman was waiting for approval from Canadian gangsters Goldie Brar and Anmol Bishnoy, brother of Lawrence Bishnoy, before going ahead with the plan. The plot detailed an escape route after the assassination, with the plan for the killers to gather in Konyakumari and escape by boat to Sri Lanka and eventually to a country beyond the control of Indian authorities.

The assassination plot came to light during the investigation into the shooting incident outside Salman Khan’s residence in Bandra. In response to the increased threat level, security has been beefed up around Khan’s home in Bandra after former minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique was shot dead near Nirmal Nagar in Bandra measure. The recent shooting death of Siddique, a former parliamentarian and leader of the Ajit Pawar faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), has heightened concerns about gang-related violence in the area.
