The couple went to Haridwar, about 100 kilometers away by bike, then committed suicide by jumping into the Ganges from a bridge there. Before jumping into the Ganga, the businessman had sent a suicide note, selfie and location to his family members. Before suicide, the couple had also called their family members.
The body of businessman Saurabh was recovered from the banks of Ganga Nahar on Monday, while his wife Mona Babbar could not be traced. Police and divers are searching for the woman. The couple has two children, whom they left at their grandmother’s house. The daughter is 11 years old while the son is 7 years old. Yesterday the son lit the funeral pyre of his father Saurabh. The incident has created chaos in the family.
According to the information, on Monday morning, Ranipur police of Haridwar district received information that the body of a youth was stuck in the swamp on the banks of Ganganahar. Police reached the spot and got the body taken out. The body was identified from the mobile phone and purse. After which information was given to Kishanpura Kotwali (Saharanpur Police).
Police said that Saurabh Babbar had sent the photo and location to his acquaintance before jumping into the Ganga from the Elephant Bridge with his wife Mona. On contacting the family members, it was found that Saurabh had a shop in Saharanpur in the name of Sai Jewellers. He was facing problems due to borrowing a lot of money from people. On August 10, Saurabh came to Haridwar with his wife Mona and sent the suicide note, location and selfie to the family members on WhatsApp and then jumped into the Ganga.
At the same time, the family members searched for both of them at the location, but nothing was found. After this, a missing complaint was given in the city police station. Meanwhile, the police found Saurabh’s body. There was panic among the family members after receiving the information. At present, the search for Mona’s body is going on.
On the other hand, there is a rush of people consoling the deceased businessman Saurabh Babbar. After receiving the information, former Saharanpur MP and BJP leader Raghav Lakhanpal reached the spot. He consoled the family members. The BJP leader said that the incident has shocked everyone. We all had tears in our eyes after seeing Saurabh’s son performing his last rites.
Congress MP Imran Masood also reached the house of the deceased and expressed condolences. Masood said that he is very saddened to hear the news of suicide of Saharanpur jewelers businessman Saurabh Babbar and his wife. This is an unfortunate incident. Imran Masood assured justice to the victim’s family and said that he will demand strict action in this case.
