November 20, 2024: Vikrant Massey latest movie, Sabarmati Reportcollections fell sharply on the first Monday after a decent weekend performance. According to preliminary estimates by Sacnilk.com, the film about the 2002 Sabarmati Express tragedy and its aftermath has so far netted Rs 745 crore in India.

The film grossed 1.25 billion rupees at the box office on its first day. It rebounded over the weekend, with a box office of 210 million rupees on Saturday and 30 million rupees on Sunday. However, fundraising fell to 1.1 billion rupees on Monday, indicating a loss of momentum. The overall Hindi attendance rate on Monday was 16.04%, and the film failed to surpass the box office on its first Monday. 12th failure– Vikrant Massey’s last film – collected Rs 15 crore at the box office on the day.
The story behind the movie
Directed by Dhiraj Sarna, Sabarmati Report An in-depth discussion of the Godhra tragedy of 2002, focusing on the incident in which the S-6 coach of Sabarmati Express was burnt down near Godhra station on February 27, 2002. The tragedy triggered widespread communal riots in the state of Gujarat, and the film explores the ideological conflict between traditional Hindi journalists and the Westernized views of English-speaking journalists.
