Russian Missile Strike Indian Pharma firm’s Kyiv Warehouse: Ukraine

New Delhi:

A Russian missile today said Ukraine that an Indian pharmaceutical warehouse hit the warehouse in Kiev. The country’s embassy in India deliberately targeted Indian businesses in Ukraine.

The Ukraine embassy said, “Today, a Russian missile hit the warehouse of Indian pharmaceutical company Kusum in Ukraine. Claiming ‘special friendship’ with India, Moscow deliberately targeted Indian businesses – destroying drugs for children and elderly,” Emgonal’s Embassy said.

Kusum, owned by Indian businessman Rajiv Gupta, is one of the largest pharma firms in Ukraine. Sources told NDTV that the company’s products are important in Ukraine as they ensure the availability of basic drugs. He said that a drone, not a missile, made a straight hit on the warehouse.

Prior to Kiev’s post, UK Ukraine Martin Harris’s ambassador stated that the Russian strike destroyed a major pharma warehouse in Kiev. However, Mr. Martin also said that the attack was carried out by Russian drone, not missiles.

“This morning Russian drone completely destroyed a major pharmaceutical warehouse in Kiev, provoked shares of drugs required by the elderly and children. Russia’s terror campaign against Ukrainian citizens continues,” Mr. Martin said in a post on X.

The British envoy posted a picture in Ukraine, showing the smoke rising from a structure, which appeared with a fire engine in the form of a warehouse.

Soon after the Ukraine invasion in February 2022, India is buying large quantities of oil from Russia. This is mainly because Russian oil was available at a significant discounts for other international benchmarks due to Western restrictions and some European countries shopping to some European countries.

Russia remains India’s top oil source. India imported 1.48 million barrels (BPD) per day of crude oil from Russia in February, against 1.67 million BPD in the last month.
