The Road Safety Unit of the Transport Department has given several suggestions to the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). The unit has suggested to make changes in the software of the cameras installed on the expressway, so that heavy fines can be imposed on the drivers who break their lane. A provision is being made to impose fine on lane breakers on other expressways including Agra Expressway.

According to the information, there are three lanes of vehicles on the expressway. In which heavy vehicles are driven to take left, in which buses, trucks and other heavy vehicles are driven. Whereas cars and light vehicles are driven in the middle lane.

At the same time, the third lane is left empty and if anyone wants to overtake, then he can overtake. But for not doing so, a provision of heavy fine is being made. Till now, a fine of Rs 2,000 is imposed for over speeding and Rs 1,000 for not wearing seat belt. But now due to changes in the software, a fine of Rs 1,000 will be imposed for changing lanes and not wearing seat belt, and Rs 2,000 for changing lanes. For this, the software of the cameras is being modified. A decision on this will be taken soon.
