Maharaja Hari Singh’s daughter-in-law Ritu Singh has expressed strong opposition to Rahul Gandhi’s defamatory remarks against the revered Dogra ruler.

She added: “His baseless attack is not only an insult to the legacy of Maharaja Hari Singh but also to the entire Dogra community and the people of Jammu and Kashmir, whom Maharaja Hari Singh served with unmatched dedication and selflessness.”

Ritu Singh said that Rahul Gandhi’s remarks echoed the ill will of his ancestors, including Pandit Nehru, towards Maharaja Hari Singh, who tried to defame him. It is once again evident that they are playing tricks to destroy and erase the rich heritage of the Dogra community. The people of Jammu can clearly see through this ill will and it is time to make them understand their indifference towards the Dogras.
She said such malicious attacks on a ruler who has always stood for the unity, integrity and welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir cannot be tolerated.

The Dogra legacy of pride, bravery and service to the nation is unshakable and will remain intact despite such attacks.
She said Maharaja Hari Singh was a visionary leader, a champion of social justice and a pioneer of progressive reforms in Jammu and Kashmir. He abolished the caste system, regardless of caste and creed, worked tirelessly to provide education to all and introduced land reforms that empowered farm workers. His bold decision to make primary education free and compulsory and his efforts to build hospitals and ensure better healthcare for the people marked him as a ruler who was ahead of his time.

He was a staunch defender of equality and justice and upheld the rights of all his subjects and his commitment to these values is part of his lasting legacy.
