Resident doctor accused of raping two female patients in Cuttack Medical College arrested

A sensational incident of rape of two female patients has come to light in SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, Odisha. The police have arrested the doctor accused of committing this crime. The Health and Family Welfare Department has constituted a three-member inquiry committee to investigate.

Cuttack DCP Prakash R said that the incident happened on Sunday. The victim women had come to the cardiology department of SCB Medical College and Hospital for echocardiogram examination. At that time very few people were present in the department. Taking advantage of this opportunity, the accused made her a victim of lust.

Cuttack’s Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Anil Mishra said that Mangalbagh police station received a written complaint from two female patients on Monday. After this, a case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Justice Code.

Police is investigating this matter. The accused has been arrested. Meanwhile, the Health and Family Welfare Department has constituted a three-member inquiry committee to investigate the allegations against the resident doctor. A notification said that the panel will conduct a detailed investigation. Will recommend appropriate action.

Another police officer said that the accused doctor had asked both the women to come for examination on Sunday instead of Friday. After this incident, some relatives of the patients beat up the doctor. However, the police have not yet received any formal complaint in this regard.
