Most users who make digital payments prefer UPI. Due to its popularity, many UPI-related scams have also come to light. This scam does not only target ordinary users, scammers also deceive merchants who accept UPI payments.
If something is not taken care of in time, hackers may pull a big scam on you. Over the past few years, increased digital connectivity and smartphone usage have revolutionized online payment preferences. As the number of online payments continues to increase, so does digital fraud.
Fraud is committed through these methods
If we look at the recent cases, scammers are using fake apps with UPI transaction interface. The interfaces look so real that even you can make mistakes. In this case, merchants are being scammed by showing fake transactions. In addition, scammers also use methods such as automatic transfers and replacement of QR codes. However, you can avoid such scams by remaining vigilant.
remember these things
- To prevent such fraud from happening to you, you must verify every transaction in the UPI app. Once someone pays you via UPI, open the UPI app and check the transaction.
- Apart from this, you must also check your bank account regularly. You must match each transaction with your bank statement. Doing so will help track down any fraud that has occurred to you.
- If you are a UPI merchant, you should not place QR code scanners in open areas. Since it is kept in an open area, scammers can tamper with it and retain the QR code scanner of their account. Therefore, every UPI payment goes into the scammer’s account.
- Apart from this, it is also very important that you have at least one UPI account. By doing this, you won’t face any problems verifying your transactions. With multiple UPI accounts, you may face difficulty in tracking transactions.
