Religious Endowment Amendment Bill: JPC meeting sparks controversy again, opposition MPs walk out

Juvenile News Conference sparks controversy again

Opposition MPs walked out of Monday’s JPC meeting on the waqf amendment bill. He claimed no proper presentation was made at the meeting. Opposition MPs said it would be wrong to endorse today’s report of the Delhi Waqf Committee. The report of the present Administrator is not accepted by the Delhi Government and should therefore not be considered.

Opposition MPs walked out of the meeting in protest against the presentation of the Delhi Waqf Commission. Opposition members claimed that the administrator of the Delhi Waqf Board, who appeared before the committee, made changes to the statement without the knowledge of the Delhi government. Aam Aadmi Party member Sanjay Singh, DMK MP Mohammad Abdullah, Congress MPs Naseer Hussain and Mohammad Javed and some other opposition members left the meeting.

Opposition members alleged that Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) commissioner and Delhi Waqf Board administrator Ashwini Kumar completely changed the initial report of the Waqf Board without the chief minister’s approval.

There was also an uproar last Tuesday

Last Tuesday’s JPC meeting also caused an uproar. There was a heated argument between TMC’s Kalyan Banerjee and BJP’s Abhijeet Gangopadhyay. During the meeting, both leaders became very aggressive. Kayan Banerjee got so angry that he smashed the water bottle. As a result of his actions, he was suspended from the committee for one day.

Meanwhile, Gangopadiya suffered injuries on his thumb and index finger and required first aid. He was later seen being taken back to the conference room by AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi and Aam Aadmi Party leader Sanjay Singh.
