Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K President Ravinder Raina has expressed confidence that the party will secure a full majority in the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. Speaking at a public rally after filing his nomination papers as the BJP candidate from Nowshera, Raina declared, “The people from all sections of the society, both in Kashmir and Jammu, are supporting the BJP. There is a strong wave in favour of the BJP. We will form the next government in J&K with full majority”.

Raina criticized the Congress and National Conference (NC), claiming that their actions have contributed to the revival of terrorism in the region. He stated that the electorate has recognized the “evil designs” of these parties, particularly their alleged support for releasing stone pelters and terrorists. He emphasized that the people of J&K had already rejected former chief ministers Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections and would similarly reject Congress and NC in the assembly elections.

The BJP leader also accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of insulting the Dogra rulers, asserting that this would further alienate voters from the Congress and NC. Raina maintained that only the BJP can fulfill the aspirations of the people in Jammu and Kashmir, citing the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the tangible development results achieved under his administration as key factors in gaining public trust.

Raina raised concerns about Congress’s silence regarding the NC’s manifesto, which he claimed included promises to release terrorists and restore the pre-abrogation status of Article 370. He argued that the historical alliance between Congress and NC has consistently led to destruction and stagnation in development within J&K.

Accompanying Raina during the nomination process was BJP’s J&K election in-charge Ram Madhav, alongside other party leaders who also filed their nominations for various constituencies. This assembly election marks a significant political event, being the first since the revocation of Article 370 and the bifurcation of the state into two union territories in 2019, with voting scheduled to take place in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1.
