A heartbreaking incident took place in Odisha. A rapist who was out on bail in the city murdered his victim. Furthermore, in order to destroy evidence, the girl’s body was cut into small pieces and sent to different places. However, the police caught the suspect with the help of artificial intelligence. The accused was identified as Kunu Kisan.
According to information provided by the police, Kunnu raped a girl living in Sundargarh district in August last year. The victim registered a rape case at Dharuadih police station and was arrested accordingly.
When did the girl disappear?
Jharsuguda Superintendent of Police Parmar Smit Purushottam Das said, “On December 7, 2024, the girl’s family filed a missing report, following which we started investigation. “However, we neither have any leads nor have we been given any links. In this case, he found the girl with the help of AI. He told us that the girl had gone missing from her aunt’s house.
How can AI help the police?
Purushottam Das said he uploaded the girl’s photo into the district’s smart city CCTV system. In this case, when they entered the missing girl’s photo into the system, they found a photo of two youths on a bicycle with the wrong license plate. Thereafter, they started investigating using the footage and Kunu Kisan was traced to Lefripada Police Station. He said the defendant was released on bail after three months in December last year.
Police arrested the accused and interrogated him and he confessed to killing the girl. He also said he cut off a small part of the girl’s body and cremated it.
