Content creator Ranveer Allahbadia aka Beer Biceps, has been in the news for his insensitive, rash comment on Samay Raina‘s show ‘India’s Got Latent’. Ranveer asked a contestant a question which did not go down well on social media and people slammed him. Ranveer had asked, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?”
Now after all the backlash and after a complaint has been filed against Ranveer, Apoorva Makhija, Samay Raina, and the organizers of the show, the podcast host has apologised. He took to social media and shared a video where he apologised to everyone. He said, “My comment wasn’t just inappropriate, it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte, just here to say sorry. Many of you asked if this is how I want to use my platform. No this is not how I will use it. I’m not here to give any context or justification. I’m just here for an apology. I personally had a lapse in my judgement, it wasn’t cool on my part.”
He further added, “My podcast is watched by people of all ages. Don’t want to be the person who takes that responsibility lightly. Family is the last thing I will disrespect. Need to use this platform better. That’s been my learning from this whole incident. I’ve asked makers to remove the insensitive sections from the video. I’m sorry. Hope you can forgive me as a human being.”
However, netizens don’t seem to be in the mood to forgive him so soon. A user commented on his video, “You have already disrespected family! Ever going to trust whatever you have said and going to say on your podcast! No point in apologizing if the pattern keeps repeating. Integrity is about consistency, not just damage control.” Another one said, “After the outrage, apologizing was your only option. But the mask slipped—you’ve shown your true colors. Shameless!!!”
A person said, “This is the celebrity pattern these days, they do anything and then say sorry. Most of the time, it’s not that they feel sorry, they apologize because it’s business, their careers are at stake. It’s the pressure from handlers and sponsors.” A person said, “No apology is acceptable. Strict punishment is required @MumbaiPolice@Dev_Fadnavis ji plz take action against him and set an example for other!”
A user commented, “Translation: sorry what i said hurts my business pls keep watching my videos.”
Apart from Ranveer, content creator Apoorva Mukhija, popularly known as Rebel Kid or Kaleshi Aurat is also receiving a lot of backlash for her comments on the show.
