Actor Randeep Hooda is considered strong in Bollywood for his superb acting skills. He has managed to impress people with his performance in every movie. The movies he chooses are very different from other actors and also add value to the material through his performance.
The way Randeep brought his method acting to life in his last film Swatantryaveer Savarkar was highly appreciated by the audience and critics even though the film did not do well. Now Randeep talks about his choice of the film Hatke and tells why he chose such a project.
Out of work for 11 of 24 years
Randeep, who was attending India Today’s Mind Rocks 2024 youth event, said he never wanted to do only such popular masala films that require no brainer. “I am lucky that although there is not much work, I have the opportunity to choose the films as I wish. From my 24 years of professional experience as an actor, I have not been on the sets for 11 years. So I am either waiting for some meaningful work or I am preparing for something,” he said.
I’m not good at dancing, so I chose method acting.
When Randeep was asked to do a dance number at the event, he declined, saying, “That’s why I do transformational acting or method acting, where you prepare yourself to understand the truth of the character. For example, I have done a lot of police roles, but I have never played a cardboard cop in uniform. These (characters) are just that, and incidentally, they are also police officers. That’s where you come into play.”
Randeep said that he is not good at dancing, so he chose to be good at method acting. He said, ‘Hrithik, Shahid and Tiger are good dancers, what is the point of competing with them? You can’t do what I do. You have to find your USP.
Randeep was last seen in the film Swatantryaveer Savarkar. The film showed the life of freedom fighter Veer Savarkar. Apart from playing the lead role Savarkar in the film, Randeep was also the producer and director of the film.
