Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor had a very on and off relationship with his father Rishi Kapoor. But the actor was never seen refraining from talking about it. Ranbir told that when his father Rishi Kapoor’s treatment had not even started, he was going through a bad phase of mental health. He also used to take therapy. Ranbir told that mental health of men is not talked about much. How they often seem hesitant in taking help on this.
Ranbir went through mental issues
Ranbir Kapoor told in a conversation with Nikhil Kamat that he started taking therapy before his father Rishi Kapoor. Ranbir said- I had tried therapy before my father fell ill. I don’t think it worked for me for two reasons. First of all, because I could not express myself fully to the doctor. Second, the doctor was, in some way, teaching me how to take control of life.
“To overcome all this, there is a way you can learn by teaching yourself some things. Everything he was telling me made me realize that I don’t want to manipulate life. I don’t want to avoid any emotion by keeping it aside because it gives me peace.
“Now you can’t talk about this topic so openly because anyone can pick up something like this and call you an anti-feminist or a male chauvinist. I think whether it is a man or a woman, if they are not mentally well, there is no shame in seeking help. There’s no shame in crying about it, and the people who love you will understand.
don’t take advantage, talk
Ranbir said that it is very important that you deal with mental health issues peacefully and gracefully. The actor told that many people actually take advantage of this. Ranbir said- Mental health is a problem which is best dealt with peacefully and very decently. Don’t use this as an excuse not to do something or live a certain way. This is a problem, find a solution and keep working on it.
