Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma (RGV) claimed on X (formerly Twitter) that the arrest was orchestrated to boost the film’s second-week box office performance.

RGV said the Telangana government’s actions were aimed at expanding Allu Arjun’s reputation. “About everyone being surprised that Hon’ble Telangana Chief Minister @revanth_anumala did this to @alluarjun, I think it’s because he wanted to give Telangana’s favorite son a big thumbs up by having him in #Pushpa2 2 series in a week,” he wrote.

He further claimed that the state deliberately orchestrated a weak prosecution to secure the actor’s release. RGV added: “This explains why the state deliberately went so weak with the prosecution so that he could be released on bail within a few hours and become even more popular, thus dominating the box office for a long time.”

The Telangana High Court on Friday granted bail to Allu Arjun, but procedural delays kept him in jail overnight. After his release on Saturday morning, Allu Arjun spoke to the media and expressed his gratitude for the support he has received.

“I appreciate everyone’s love and support. I want to thank all my fans. There is nothing to worry about. I am OK. I am a law-abiding citizen and I will cooperate. I would like to express my condolences to the family again. This is an unfortunate situation incident. We are sorry for what happened,” he said.
