Raja Sharma’s Blog Pakistan, Imran and the People: Sharif’s Troubles

The pictures coming out of Islamabad on Tuesday were heartbreaking. There was blood on the streets there. The army is opening fire on the public. Islamabad was surrounded by hundreds of thousands of Imran Khan’s supporters on Monday and Tuesday. A civil war-like situation has emerged in Pakistan. Clashes between security forces and supporters of Imran Khan continue. Four rangers of Pakistani forces were killed. Three workers at Tehreek-e-Insaaf were killed and dozens injured. Supporters of Imran Khan have arrived in Islamabad demanding his release.

Shahbaz Sharif’s government placed three-tiered containers and closed all entry routes into Islamabad. A barricade wall thirty feet high was erected. As the situation worsened, troops were deployed to Islamabad. Imran’s party postponed protests after the army carried out mass house arrests of his supporters across the country on Tuesday night. Armed soldiers stood over the containers on Tuesday. Even after this, thousands of workers of the Tehreek-e-Insaf managed to enter Islamabad.

What is happening now is that the Pakistani army is shooting from helicopters at its own people. The protests in Islamabad were prompted by jailed Imran Khan. The date revealed by Imran to people was November 24. It is said that this day is the day when the shackles of slavery are broken. Imran told the people of Pakistan that they had to decide whether they wanted imprisonment like Bahadur Shah Zafar or a crown of freedom like Tipu Sultan. Imran Khan gave the responsibility of conveying his message to the people to Bushra Bibi, who led the entire protest. Demand the release of Imran Khan from jail.

The millions of people taking to the streets have two hopes. First, Pakistani courts have acquitted Imran Khan or granted bail in most cases. On the other hand, Imran’s supporters also wanted help there after Trump’s victory in the US election, but Shahbaz Sharif’s government was not at all ready to give in. She wanted to suppress Imran’s protests with the help of the army.

The fact is that Pakistan today has neither a constitution, nor security, nor human rights, nor even enough food to eat twice a day. So people got angry and stood in front of the army with their chests held high. Be prepared to sacrifice your life. This situation in Pakistan is not good news for India. When anarchy occurs in a country and the situation is out of control, the risk of terrorism in neighboring countries increases. (Rajat Sharma)
