The Australian government has decided to ban children under 16 from using social media. The Thani Albanese government will introduce a law to this effect in the Australian Parliament this month. Announcing the new laws, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said social media was having a very bad impact on children and he made the decision after speaking to many parents, guardians, experts and children.
Under the new law, social media companies are responsible for enforcing social media bans on children under 16. Australia will become the first country in the world to ban children under 16 from using social media. “Social media is causing so much harm to our children and now I’m going to stop it,” Albanese said. “I’ve spoken to thousands of parents. Like me, they are deeply concerned about the safety of their children in the online world, and I want Australian parents and families to know that the Government is with them now. Now parents will be able to tell their children that social media is not for them. The law doesn’t allow them to do this.
The world is concerned about how much the use of mobile phones and digital media is harming children, and this concern is valid, but we should remember that adults are harmed too, and distance harms parents too. Hindi, children learn from it. There were four people sitting in a room in the house. Instead of talking to each other, they were busy looking at their phones and sending messages. This is why making laws does nothing.
If children are to be saved from this tragedy, parents must impose limits on themselves, and they must control their use of mobile and digital media. Only then can they explain it to the children. Now, when a child cries, instead of loving him, parents put the phone in his hand to calm him down. There is nothing we can do to stop our children from using cell phones unless we break these habits. (Rajat Sharma)
