December 11, 2024: The Kapoor family recently visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and received a special invitation to celebrate the 100th birth anniversary of the legendary Raj Kapoor. The meeting was attended by Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Saif Ali Khan, Karisma Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor and Riddhima Kapoor Poole Sani and other family members.

The gathering was held to commemorate the iconic filmmaker’s contribution to Indian cinema. To honor Raj Kapoor’s legacy, the family has announced a nationwide screening of his most famous works through the Raj Kapoor 100 Film Festival. This special event will screen 10 of his most iconic films in 40 cities and 135 cinemas from December 13 to 15, 2024.

Kareena Kapoor Khan took to Instagram to share a heartfelt moment from the meeting. One group photo shows the Kapoor family posing with the Prime Minister, while other photos capture candid moments of PM Modi’s passionate interactions with Saif Ali Khan and Ranbir Kapoor. A noteworthy picture shows the Prime Minister writing a personal note to Kareena’s sons Taimur and Jhe, who were unable to attend.
Expressing her gratitude, Kareena wrote: “We are deeply humbled and honored to have been invited by the esteemed Prime Minister Narendra Modi to commemorate the extraordinary life and legacy of our grandfather, the legendary Raj Kapoor “Thank you Modi for a special afternoon. Your enthusiasm, attention and support in celebrating this milestone mean so much to us.”
She further highlighted the cultural significance of Raj Kapoor’s work and said, “As we celebrate 100 years of Dadaji’s art, vision and contribution to Indian cinema, we pay tribute to the everlasting impact of his legacy, His legacy will continue to inspire us and generations to come.”
The festival will showcase classic works from Raj Kapoor’s nearly four-decade career, including Yage (1948), Barsat (1949), Avala (1951), Shri420 (1955), stay awake (1956), Which country has better Ganga than me? (1960), Sangam (1964), my name is clown (1970), bobby (1973), and Ram Terry Ganga Maili (1985).
Riddhima Kapoor Sahni also shared pictures from the meeting, including one of the Prime Minister extending her blessings. The event not only highlights the Kapoor family’s commitment to preserving Raj Kapoor’s film legacy, but also highlights the Indian government’s recognition of his contribution to Indian culture.
