Monsoon is raining heavily in Gujarat this year. So far, the average rainfall of the season has been recorded more than 116 percent in the state. Rain is still continuing in most of the districts of the state. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy rain in Gujarat for the next 5 days. In the current situation, due to the activation of four rain systems, heavy to very heavy rain is forecast in many districts.

Ahmedabad Meteorological Department Director AK Das said, in the current situation over Gujarat, low pressure, shear zone, monsoon trough and cyclonic circulation are present, which will bring heavy rains in the districts of Central and South Gujarat for two days i.e. till September 5. Till yesterday, offshore trough was also present over Gujarat but now it has turned into a low mark. Along with this, the deep depression forming in South Gujarat has also weakened and turned into low pressure. In this current situation, fishermen have also been warned not to go into the sea.

Rain alert in these districts

  • Talking about the rain alert issued in Gujarat, Meteorological Department Director AK Das said, today i.e. on September 4, there is an orange alert for rain in Banaskantha, Bharuch, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli of Gujarat.
  • On September 5, a yellow alert has been issued for rain in Kutch, Banaskantha, Patan, Mahesana, Sabarkantha, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Bharuch, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
  • In Gujarat, on September 6, a yellow alert for rain has been issued in Amreli, Bhavnagar, Bharuch, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Kutch, Banaskantha, Patan, Mahesana and Sabarkantha.
  • On September 7, the Meteorological Department in Gujarat has issued a yellow alert for rain in Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
  • At the same time, on September 8 and 9, in the current situation in Gujarat, the Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain only in Navsari, Valsad, Tapi, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli.

The most rain wreaks havoc here

Let us tell you that rain is continuing in almost all the districts of South Gujarat. According to the report released by the State Emergency Operation Center located in Gandhinagar, during the last 24 hours (till yesterday), Valia taluka of Bharuch has received the highest rainfall of 12 inches. At the same time, more than 10 inches of rain has been recorded in Songadh of Tapi and more than 9 inches of rain has been recorded in Vyara taluka. Dang district received the highest average rainfall of more than 6 inches, while more than 5 inches of rain was recorded in the entire Tapi district.

Till 6 am on 3rd September 2024, the total average rainfall of the season has been recorded in the state at more than 116 percent. In which the highest rainfall of more than 179 percent has been recorded in Kutch region, followed by more than 125 percent in Saurashtra region and more than 117 percent in South Gujarat region. Apart from this, more than 113 percent rain has been recorded in East-Central Gujarat, while the total average rainfall of the season has been recorded at 95 percent in North Gujarat so far.
