Rain became a disaster in UP, 12 people died in the last 24 hours, alert issued in these districts

In the last 24 hours, 12 people have died in different rain-related incidents in the state. Uttar Pradesh relief department officials said that five people died in Mainpuri and two in Mathura in rain-related incidents.

According to the news agency report, two people each were reported dead in Jalaun and Banda between 6:30 pm on Wednesday and 6:30 pm on Thursday, while one person died due to rain in Etah.

The India Meteorological Department has issued a warning of very heavy rains, flash floods and other rain-related incidents in more than a dozen districts of the Awadh and Rohilkhand region of the state.

State Relief Commissioner Naveen Kumar said, ‘Keeping in view the recent rains, instructions have been given to keep a 24-hour vigil in districts with heavy rainfall. In view of the floods, PAC/SDRF/NDRF teams have been deployed as per requirement. All departments are ready and on standby mode.’ An average of 28.6 mm of rain has been recorded in Uttar Pradesh in the last 24 hours.

According to the relief department, 51 of the 75 districts recorded excess rainfall, with Hathras district recording the highest rainfall of 185.1 mm. In Mathura district, 31 houses partially collapsed after continuous rain. ADM Yoganand Pandey said, ‘Manorath, 62, died after the wall of Rang Ji Baghicha Vrindavan collapsed, while the other deceased was a resident of Mat.’
