Ashwin told that Dravid was screaming and crying during the celebrations after winning the World Cup. Ashwin said that Virat Kohli handing over the T20 World Cup trophy to Dravid after India’s title win in Barbados and the coach ‘screaming and crying’ in joy was something that will always remain in his memories.

The final of the T20 World Cup 2024 was played on 29 June in Barbados. In this title match, the Indian team won the title by defeating South Africa by 7 runs in a thrilling manner. After this, Dravid was seen expressing his feelings by holding the trophy in his hand.
Ashwin admitted that it was a special moment for 51-year-old Dravid, who could not win an International Cricket Council (ICC) title as a player. But ultimately he was successful in doing so as a coach.
Ashwin said on his YouTube channel, ‘The most wonderful moment for me is when Virat Kohli calls Rahul Dravid and gives him the cup (trophy). I saw him hugging the cup and crying. Rahul Dravid was screaming and crying. I saw him enjoying it.
Dravid was scared during the World Cup
Ashwin believes that Dravid was a little scared before the start of another World Cup campaign under his guidance in the West Indies. Because under his captaincy in the 2007 ODI World Cup, the team was eliminated from the group stage itself.
He said, ‘I want to talk about a scared person. 50 over World Cup in 2007. India is out. Rahul Dravid was the captain then. He did not captain the ODI team after this. He was with the Indian team. If something went wrong, if the Indian team was out or if they lost the match, they would immediately ask what Dravid was up to.

Ashwin acknowledged Dravid’s hard work as the Indian coach and said that he brought balance to the team and changed the approach. He said, ‘I know what he has been doing with this team for the last two-three years. I know how balanced he has been. I know how hard he has worked to change this attitude.
Ashwin said, ‘I know what he has given to each of his players. Even when he is sitting at home he keeps planning how to do this and how to do that. Under Dravid’s guidance, India also reached the finals of the World Test Championship and ODI World Cup, but lost to Australia on both the occasions.
