Chandigarh University has performed well in this year’s prestigious QS Asia rankings, ranking first among all private universities in India. Chandigarh University has taken a big step to join the top 120 universities in Asia and not only this, the university has maintained its 11th position among public and private universities.
IIT Delhi ranks 44th
IIT Delhi is ranked 44th among Indian universities and Chandigarh University has emerged as the number one private university in India in the QS Asia Ranking 2025. With this success, Chandigarh University has now joined the ranks of elite institutions like IIT, IISc and JNU. It is already ahead of many famous IITs and NITs. Apart from this, Chandigarh University also lags behind international universities in China, Japan, South Korea and many other Asian countries.
With strong performance across most indicators, Chandigarh University is ranked 120th in Asia, up 29 places from 149th last year. Apart from outperforming many IITs and NITs, Chandigarh University also lags behind many international universities in the QS Asia Ranking 2025. Furthermore, it became the youngest university among all public and private universities in India to feature in the top rankings.
11 performance indicators improved
The university is ranked based on employer reputation, international faculty ratio, international research network, international student ratio, academic reputation, faculty-to-student ratio, outbound exchange students, inbound exchange students, number of papers per faculty member, number of citations per paper and employees, etc. 11 The performance indicator ranking universities with doctorates has seen its overall score improve from 32.3 in 2024 to 52.5 in 2025. Overall, Chandigarh University has improved its scores on most performance indicators.

Its score improves from 68.8 in 2024 to 90.5 in 2025. The university’s academic reputation ranking rose 22 spots to 119th, with its score rising from 28.6 in 2024 to 54.2 in 2025.
Likewise, CU moved up 11 spots to 65th in terms of international faculty ratio. The international student ratio increased by 13 places, ranking 114th; the teacher-student ratio increased by 45 places, ranking 199th in Asia. Furthermore, Chandigarh University is ranked 206th in Inbound Exchange Students and International Studies Network and 218th in Outbound Exchange Students. The university ranks among the top higher education institutions in terms of the number of papers per faculty member, the number of citations per paper and the number of employees with PhDs.
