Won first election to Congress
In 2012, a Congress government was formed in Uttarakhand, but Qazi Nizamuddin lost his seat. However, there was also turmoil within the Congress government. Many leaders quit the party. As a result, the Bharatiya Janata Party government came to power in 2017. However, Qazi Nizamuddin won the election. He won his first election on a Congress ticket. But in 2022, Sarwat Karim Ansari defeated him from BSP ticket by a slim margin of Rs 4,000.
Due to the death of Sarwat Karim Ansari in October 2023, the seat became vacant again, and in the 2024 by-election, Qazi Nizamuddin won the seat again.
Fight while fighting
During his legislative career, Qazi Nizamuddin continued to work for the party in other states, including Uttarakhand. In 2017, he was appointed as secretary of the All India Congress Committee. He was appointed co-incharge for the 2018 Rajasthan Assembly elections. Avinash Pandey is in charge of this election. The election went in favor of the Congress and the party formed the government under the leadership of Ashok Gehlot. However, Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot had a bitter dispute over the Chief Minister’s post, but eventually everything was resolved and Gehlot was in charge of the government for a full five years . This election was the first with Qazi Nizamuddin as co-chief and the party was successful in this election.
However, in August this year, he was appointed co-in-charge of Maharashtra, but the entire Mahavika Aghadi, including the Congress party, failed miserably here. Earlier, he was appointed as Kashmir State Media Coordinator for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections.
