Story
According to mythology, in the Dwapar era there was a city named Mahishmati. A king named Mahijit ruled in this city. But he had no children. It is said that the king made many efforts for the happiness of his children. But the king could not get the happiness of having a child. Then the king called all the sages of the kingdom and asked about ways to have a child. After listening to the king, the sages said, O king! You were a businessman in your previous life and you did not allow a cow to drink water from your pond on the Ekadashi of the month of Sawan. Because of which that cow had cursed you to remain childless.
Hey king! If you and your wife keep fast on Putrada Ekadashi, you can get freedom from this curse. After this you may get the happiness of having a child.
