Controversy erupted when the principal of a school in Alluri Sitaram Raju district of Andhra Pradesh was punished like this for girls not attending morning prayers on time. When Principal Sai Prasanna saw that all the 23 female students had not come, he expressed his dissatisfaction. He then made the late students stand in the school building in the sun for two hours. One student said she asked not to have her hair cut but the principal showed no mercy, and the female student later told the entire story to her family. When KGBV principal Sai Prasanna was asked about cutting off the hair of female students, he said that on November 15, the female students did not come to attend prayers and classes.
The principal said the accusation was untrue
He further defended himself by saying that he cut off the female students’ hair to comply with discipline and that the accusations against him had no factual basis. Baburao Padal clarified this. Bablau Pal told reporters that the principal was on leave when he visited the KGB Security Service. He said information on the matter has been submitted to the district education department.
