Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President Dr. PT Usha has given a statement on Sunday which is very much discussed. During this entire statement, the name of Vinesh, who was disqualified in 50 kg freestyle in Paris Olympics, was not taken. But it is believed that he has definitely given advice to Vinesh through gestures.

Former Olympian and now Chief of IOA, Dr. PT Usha said – Managing weight is the responsibility of the player and coach. Especially in sports like wrestling, weightlifting, boxing and judo. The responsibility of weight management of athletes in these games lies with each athlete and his coach, and not with the IOA-appointed Chief Medical Officer Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala and his team.

The IOA had appointed a medical team a few months ago, which will primarily assist the athletes in their recovery and injury management during and after the event. This team was also created to assist those athletes who did not have their own team of nutritionists and physiotherapists.

Dr Pardiwala was defended
Dr. Usha said that the hatred towards the IOA medical team, especially Dr. Pardiwala, is unacceptable and should be condemned. He expressed hope that those accusing the IOA medical team would consider all the facts before reaching any conclusion. This statement comes after Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the final of the women’s 50 kg weight category as she violated the weight limit set before the title match.
