The Maroon Beret Parade was held on Saturday at the Garuda Training Center at the Chandigarh Air Force Base in India. The program was organized to commemorate the successful completion of commando training of the Air Force Special Forces Eagle. Garuda is considered one of the most feared commandos in the country. This special force of the Indian Air Force was established in September 2004.
Assistant Chief of Staff, Air Force Operations (Transport and Helicopters) inspected the parade as the chief guest of the program. During this time, he congratulated “Garuda” on the successful completion of his training. Addressing the young commandos, he stressed the importance of rigorous training and honing of special forces skills to keep pace with the rapidly changing security scenario.
Successful “Garuda” trainees were awarded
During this period, the Assistant Chief of Air Staff also presented numerous awards to successful Garuda cadets. He presented maroon berets, Garuda proficiency badges and Special Forces tags to the winners and presented trophies. The Maroon Beret Ceremonial Parade is a moment of pride and achievement for Garuda Airways. It marks the perfect culmination of an extremely rigorous training program.
Getting selected to join Eagle Commando is very difficult. Its training takes the longest and is the most difficult. The Maroon Beret Parade marks Garuda’s transition to “Young Special Forces Operators”. By joining the elite “Eagle” force, the combat capabilities of the Indian Air Force are further enhanced.
Even the souls of your enemies tremble with fear.
Garud commandos are a special force of the Indian Air Force. Currently, the number of these commandos is approximately 2,000. Only after completing more than a thousand days of training can one gain the honor of becoming a Garuda Commando. They are an elite special forces unit, fearful enough to tremble in the very souls of their enemies.
