TMC MP Marwa Moitra
TMC MP Mahua Moitra created an uproar in the Lok Sabha on Friday by questioning the death of Justice Loya. He said Justice Loya left this world long before his time. Sandan created a stir after Moitra raised the issue. Thereafter, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha adjourned the meeting for half an hour.
Following Moitra’s challenge, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said three judges had settled the matter. In such circumstances, if the House so expresses its opinion, Parliament should take appropriate action against them. The Parliamentary Affairs Minister said the Speaker should take note of the MP’s statements. House proceedings were delayed for about half an hour because of the uproar.
BJP in trouble for ‘bulldozing justice’
While addressing the Lok Sabha, Marva Moitra also attacked the BJP government for “bulldozing justice”. He said agencies like ED and CBI have become the extortion arm of the government. Moitra also attacked the BJP government over the abrogation of Article 360 in Jammu and Kashmir, saying the freedom of expression of the people of the state has been hampered.
When Moitra participated in the “Discussion on the 75 Glorious Journey of the Constitution” in the Lok Sabha, he accused the central government of violating the Constitution. TMC MPs said political officials have damaged democracy in the past 10 years.
BJP MP Nishikant Dubey retaliates
The ruling party objected to the TMC MP’s remarks in the Lok Sabha. When BJP MP Nishikant Dubey tried to raise the issue, chairperson Kumari Selja did not allow him to do so. After this, Speaker Om Birla reached the House and with his permission, BJP leader Nishikant Dubey said that TMC MPs had mentioned the death of Justice Loya and his untimely death was also confirmed by other judges.
What did Parliamentary Affairs Minister Killen say?
Following this, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the TMC member’s remarks about Justice Loya were a very serious matter. The whole matter has been concluded in the judiciary. This is a resolved case. An unfortunate incident occurred among the judges. There is no question of anyone interfering in this matter. Action should be taken against such statements by TMC MPs.
