Chatterjee said the visit is also expected to boost relations between India and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). Chatterjee said India is negotiating a free trade agreement with the Gulf Cooperation Council. Talking about Modi’s planned visit to Kuwait labor camps, Chatterjee said, “We hope that both parties can successfully complete this mission.” He said that the Indian government attaches great importance to the welfare of all Indian overseas workers. “The purpose of the Prime Minister’s visit to the labor camps is to show the importance the Indian government attaches to our workers. Prime Minister Modi is conducting this visit at the invitation of Kuwait Emir Sheikh Meshaal Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
