Imposing prohibition in Bihar had been Nitish Kumar’s dream project, while Tejashwi Yadav had never had a clear opinion on the issue – but Prashant Kishor has taken a completely different stand.

There has never been much difference between Tejashwi Yadav and the BJP or the Congress on the issue of prohibition. No one has openly supported the move taken by Prashant Kishore, nor has anyone come out to clearly oppose it.

Of course, the BJP still supports Nitish Kumar, but the battle in Bihar is turning into a PK with Tejashwi Yadav.

Prashant Kishore, popularly known as PK, has taken the political battle in Bihar to a higher level by taking a clear stand on the issue of prohibition — and it is clear that prohibition is sure to be a major issue in the 2025 Bihar assembly elections.

Prashant Kishor’s election promises bar

After visiting and understanding Bihar, Prashant Kishor, who has now transformed from an election strategist to a Jan Suraj leader, made a major election promise regarding prohibition of liquor.

Talking to the media, Prashant Kishore said that his party would repeal the prohibition law within an hour of forming the government.

This statement by Prashant Kishore is similar to Tejashwi Yadav’s election promise for 2020. Later, Tejashwi signed for the first time in the first cabinet meeting after coming to power in RJD, promising to issue an order to provide 10 lakh jobs to the youth of Bihar.

When reporters asked Prashant Kishore how he would end the prohibition, Prashant Kishore said that this information will be provided only after our government is formed. Even before making the new promise, Prashant Kishore had listed the shortcomings of the prohibition.

Tejashwi Yadav could not come to power in 2020 but later when Nitish Kumar switched sides and became the Deputy Prime Minister, he would surely try to provide some jobs. However, like Tejashwi Yadav, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also has complete sovereignty.

Prashant Kishore said the ban decision was a fraud by Nitish Kumar and had been proven to be ineffective.
The Jan Suraj leader claimed that the ban had increased illegal home liquor distribution, costing Bihar Rs 20,000 crore in potential excise revenue. Prashant Kishore also accused politicians and bureaucrats of benefiting from the illegal liquor business.

There is nothing wrong with imposing prohibition, and Bihar is not the only state in the country to have such prohibition. But just as the large number of deaths due to poisoned liquor in Bihar has not stopped, neither has the illegal liquor trade.

There was a lot of controversy regarding the prohibition laws in Bihar, so many cases were filed in the courts that it became difficult to hear them. Subsequently the prohibition laws were amended. If we look at it, prohibition did more harm than good.

Targeting Tejashwi, Nitish is just an excuse

The question is, if prohibition was Nitish Kumar’s plan, what impact will Prashant Kishore’s move have on Tejashwi Yadav’s politics?

The biggest impact will be that Prashant Kishore has grabbed hold of a big issue against Nitish Kumar and now he will go around explaining to people that Tejashwi Yadav doesn’t care about the people of Bihar.

To explain why there is no concern, Prashant Kishor is already campaigning for the ‘ninth failed leader’ – Apparently, Prashant Kishor will also explain in the future that Tejashwi Yadav was unaware of the damage caused by the prohibition.

How great is the risk of female disgust?

When Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced a ban on liquor after returning to power in the 2015 elections keeping the women vote bank in mind, Prashant Kishore was overseeing his campaign. He was later made an advisor to the chief minister and then the vice president of the JDU. Eventually they too were thrown out.

In fact, in the name of prohibition, besides winning votes for women in Bihar, it became a weapon to force Prime Minister Narendra Modi. After leaving the NDA, when he was the leader of the Grand Alliance with Lalu Yadav, he first challenged Modi to implement a nationwide prohibition. They also did not forget to remind why it should not be implemented in the entire country when it was implemented in Gujarat and also in Bihar – but as time went on, Nitish Kumar was forced to carry the ban. Once.

Prashant Kishor takes his first stand on liquor prohibition – Apparently, this will be an issue in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.

The big question is what do women in Bihar think about Prashant Kishore ending the ban? By the way, Prashant Kishore has talked about issuing election tickets to 40 women to get the women vote.
