Before the upcoming assembly elections, the operation of security forces against terrorists is going on in Jammu and Kashmir. After killing three terrorists in an encounter in Baramulla on Saturday, today again the encounter of security forces with terrorists has started in Poonch district.
It is suspected that 2 to 3 terrorists are hiding in the Mendhar forest here. Additional soldiers have been sent to the encounter site. This encounter started when the security forces received information that some terrorists were hiding in the area.
After receiving information about the presence of terrorists, the entire area was cordoned off and a search operation was started. During this time, firing took place from the terrorists’ side, to which the security forces responded.
Extra soldiers sent
According to a security official, acting on a tip-off, police and army personnel launched a joint search operation in Pathanthir area on Saturday evening. During the operation, suspected terrorists hiding in the area opened fire on the search party, following which the encounter started.

Intermittent firing continued between the two sides, the official said, adding that reinforcements have been rushed to the spot.
Three terrorists were killed on Saturday
On Saturday, two Indian Army personnel, including a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO), were martyred in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district. In a separate operation in Baramulla, security forces killed three terrorists.
Sporadic incidents of violence are being witnessed in the Union Territory ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. This is the first election to be held in the region in a decade. Concerns about regional stability have increased after the terrorist incidents.
