Water sprinkling is going on in the streets of Delhi.
The air in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad and Gurgaon is very toxic. Even on Tuesday morning, the AQI in most areas touched the 500 mark (above severe), while the National Capital Region (NCR) remained under heavy smog for the seventh consecutive day. Delhi has become a gas chamber due to pollution. Something to consider is that the country’s neighbor Pakistan is in the process of controlling pollution. Pollution has reduced in Lahore due to special technology.
Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb said the air quality in Lahore and surrounding areas has improved after the successful use of artificial rainfall. The Punjab government recently tested a locally developed technology to create artificial rainfall using “cloud seeding” technology in Jhelum, Chakwawal, Talgaon and Gurjjar Khan districts. According to the Meteorological Department, it rained in Jhelum and Gujjar Khan districts during the Test.
Pakistan appeals to people
Aurangzeb stressed that the work was part of the wider “Detox Punjab” campaign to reduce harmful smog levels, especially in Rawalpindi. A major campaign is underway in Lahore that includes a ban on smog-emitting vehicles to improve air quality. The minister appealed to ordinary people to support initiatives to reduce smog. He said that combating air pollution requires the cooperation of citizens.
Delhi implements Grape-4, pollution not reduced
Here, Grape-4 has been implemented to reduce pollution in Delhi. Still, pollution shows no signs of abating. Schools and colleges have been closed due to pollution in Delhi and the National Capital Region. JNU and DU have also been asked to start online classes by November 23. The Delhi government and the Center are pointing fingers at each other, but there is no solution in sight.
Is artificial rainfall the only solution for Delhi?
Delhi government minister Gopal Rai said experts have said there is no solution to the pollution problem and you are asking questions. We have to do it and get permission from the central government, but a meeting is required to take the decision. Scientists from IIT Kanpur will tell how this is done, and we will tell how much it will cost, but we have not revealed it for the past two and a half months. Smog can only be removed through artificial rainfall or wind. The Center is yet to take action on the Delhi government’s request.
How does artificial rainfall happen?
For artificial rainfall, clouds containing moisture are needed. To do this, use slightly more pressure. The seeded material is released into the cloud via aircraft or generators. This increases the size of the water droplets. As the size increases, the droplets become heavier and then it starts to rain. Currently, the United States, China, Russia, Australia and other countries are already using this technology.
