Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP and actress Kangana Ranaut’s controversial statement related to farmers has created a political uproar. Apart from the United Kisan Morcha, Congress, Aam Aadmi Party and other parties are fiercely attacking the BJP over Kangana’s statement.

Congress on Monday said that if BJP disagrees with the comments of its MP, then it should expel her from the party. Apart from Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, party leader Rahul Gandhi has also criticized Kangana without naming her and said that the propaganda machinery of the Modi government, which has failed to fulfill the promises made to the farmers, is constantly engaged in insulting the farmers.

Rahul Gandhi’s post
Rahul Gandhi further said in his post on X, ‘The BJP MP calling the farmers who sacrificed 700 comrades during the 378-day marathon struggle as rapists and representatives of foreign forces is another proof of the BJP’s anti-farmer policy and intentions. This shameful anti-farmer statement is a grave insult to the farmers of the entire country including western Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab, which cannot be accepted under any circumstances.’

He said, ‘The government committee formed at the time of withdrawing the farmers’ movement is still in cold storage, the government has not been able to clarify its stand on MSP till date, the families of the martyred farmers have not been given any relief and on top of that, their character assassination is going on continuously. The Modi government’s betrayal of the farmers cannot be hidden by disrespecting the food providers and attacking their dignity. No matter how much conspiracy Narendra Modi and BJP do – INDIA will ensure that the farmers get a legal guarantee of MSP.’

Kharge also became an attacker
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has also cornered BJP and PM Modi over Kangana’s statement. He posted on Instagram and wrote, ‘Prime Minister Modi himself had insulted the farmers by calling them “agitators” and “parasites” in full Parliament… He even refused to observe two minutes of silence for the martyred farmers in Parliament. Modi ji had also made a false promise of forming a committee on MSP and doubling the income of farmers. When Modi ji can do all this himself, then what else can the country expect from his supporters except insulting the martyred farmers! This shameful and highly reprehensible anti-farmer ideology is the DNA of the Modi government.’

Tikait’s statement
Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait criticized Kangana’s statement and said, ‘Despite the presence of 400 farmer organizations and lakhs of farmers in the 13-month-long farmer movement, there was no violence. More than 700 farmers were martyred but the farmers did not lose patience. The bills were withdrawn. BJP MP Kangana Ranaut’s statement about it is an insult to the martyred farmers and crores of farmers of the country.’
