Violence intensifies ahead of by-elections in Assam
A by-election will be held on November 13 for the Samaguri assembly seat in Assam. Meanwhile, violence has come to light as a result of the by-elections. In response, the ruling People’s Party and Congress accused each other of shooting at their supporters in the past 24 hours. Three journalists who went to cover the violence were allegedly beaten by Congress supporters. The violence occurred on Saturday.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma criticized the Congress party for condoning violence under the cover of darkness to intimidate BJP workers.
