After the Quad Summit in the US, the leaders of the member countries participated in the “Cancer Moonshot” event. Prime Minister Modi announced a $7.5 million and 40 million doses cancer prevention vaccine program in the program. He said that India’s vision is – One Planet, One Health.

“India is running the world’s largest health insurance scheme”

At the Cancer Moonshot event, Prime Minister Modi said, “I wholeheartedly congratulate President Biden for organizing this event. It reflects our shared resolve to provide affordable, accessible and quality healthcare. During the coronavirus pandemic, we took up the Indo-Pacific Quad vaccine initiative and I am glad that within the Quad, we have decided to jointly address the challenge of cervical cancer.

He said: “In cancer care, collaboration is essential to cure. India is running a very affordable cervical cancer screening programme on a large scale. At the same time, India is running the world’s largest health insurance scheme and has set up special centres to provide medicines to everyone at affordable prices.

“We are ready to share our experience and expertise”

“India has also developed its own vaccine for cervical cancer and is also launching new treatment options with the help of artificial intelligence. India is ready to share its experience and expertise,” PM Modi said.

He said, “Today, many experts from India working in cancer care have joined us in this initiative. India’s vision is – One Planet, One Health. In this spirit, I am announcing $7.5 million support for sampling kits, test kits and vaccines under the Four Moonshots Program.

India to provide 40 million doses of vaccine

PM Modi said, “India will also collaborate in radiotherapy and capacity building”. I am pleased that India will donate 40 million doses of vaccines to Indo-Pacific countries under GAVI and the Quad initiative.

“These 40 million doses of vaccine will be a ray of hope in the lives of 10 million people,” he said. “As you can see, when the Quartet takes action, it is not just for the country, it is for the people. This is the true essence of our people-first approach.”
