Polling for 24 seats in the first phase of the 2024 assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir went to polls on Wednesday. The voter turnout in these seats was about 61.3%, which is the highest in the past seven elections. Now the political parties are busy preparing for the second phase. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday addressed a rally in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir to solicit votes for the party candidates. He said that for the first time, Kashmir is voting without the shadow of terrorism.

I will not be there.” The bumper vote in the first phase of the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections rejected the political parties that advocated stone pelting and terrorism. The people here have full confidence in PM Modi’s assurance of a safe and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir. The PM also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people who came to Srinagar to send their wishes.
