India’s performance in the Paris Olympic Games was mixed. India won a total of six medals, including one silver and five bronze medals, in the recently concluded Games. India’s 117-member contingent had gone to Paris for the Olympic Games, out of which most of the athletes have returned. Indian players got a warm welcome after returning home. Indian players had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence on August 15 (Thursday). The complete video of that meeting has surfaced.

PM praised Vinesh

During the meeting with the players, the PM praised their enthusiasm and performance. PM Modi addressed the members of the Indian team. PM Modi also mentioned Vinesh Phogat during his speech. PM said that Vinesh created history by reaching there. Vinesh Phogat had reached the finals of the women’s 50 kg freestyle wrestling event. However he was disqualified. PM said, ‘Vinesh became the first Indian to reach the final in wrestling. This is also a matter of pride for us. Indian shooters reached the finals in 7 shooting events in the Olympics. This has also happened for the first time.

Let us tell you that some Indian players have not returned home yet. Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra is in Germany, where he is to undergo surgery. Whereas Vinesh Phogat will return to India on 17th August. Badminton player PV Sindhu also did not become a part of this event. Sindhu had missed out on a historic hat-trick of medals by losing in the round of 16 during the Paris Olympics.

India got its first medal in shooting in Paris Olympics 2024, when Manu Bhakar won bronze in Women’s 10 meter Air Pistol. Then Manu Bhakar also got the second bronze in the mixed team event. Sarabjot Singh was also in the team with him. Swapnil Kusale won the third bronze medal in men’s 50 meter rifle three position shooting. Then the men’s hockey team won the bronze medal and javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal. After this, wrestler Aman Sehrawat won bronze in men’s 57 kg freestyle.
