Prime Minister Narendra Modi will start a three-day visit to the United States from today. During this visit, PM Modi will attend the Quad Summit. There are also many bilateral meetings that are likely to take place. Narendra Modi has visited the United States eight times since he became the Prime Minister and this is his ninth visit. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) informed on Tuesday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the United States from September 21 to 23.
During this period, PM Modi will attend the fourth Quad Summit to be held in Wilmington, Delaware on September 21. This meeting will be hosted by US President Joe Biden. After this, he will attend a program related to the Indian community in New York on September 22. PM Modi will also attend the UN “Future Summit” on September 23, the last day of his visit.
Indian Prime Minister visits the US
If we look back at the history of Indian Prime Ministers during this visit of PM Modi to the US, we will find that the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru visited the US four times during his tenure. So far, 9 Indian Prime Ministers including Modi and his predecessor Singh have made official visits to the US. Former Prime Minister Singh visited the US eight times and the first Prime Minister Nehru visited the US four times. Meanwhile, Atal Bihari Vajpayee also visited the US four times. Apart from this, Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi have also visited the US once while serving as Prime Ministers (3 times), PV Narasimha Rao (2 times), Morarji Desai and IK Gujral have visited the US once.
