Water level rises above danger level

Incessant rainfall in Tamil Nadu has severely affected many parts of the state. The water level at Bridge No. 452 between Vikravandi railway station and Mundiyampakkam railway station has risen above the danger line. For the safety of passengers, Southern Railway has canceled many express trains. The canceled trains include Vaigai Express, Karaikudi-Chennai Pallavan Express, Madurai Tejas Express, Chennai-Nagercoil Vande Bharat Express and Chennai-Madurai Tejas Express.

These trains were canceled

  1. Train number 20627, Chennai Igmore-Nagercoil Vande Bharat Express, scheduled to depart from Igmore, Chennai at 05:00 on December 2, 2024, has been completely cancelled.
  2. Train No. 22671 – Chennai Igmore – Madurai Vande Tejas Express scheduled to depart from Igmore, Chennai at 06:00 on December 2, 2024 has been completely cancelled.
  3. Train No. 06025 – Chennai Igmore – Puducherry MEMU scheduled to depart from Igmore, Chennai at 06:35 on December 2, 2024 has also been cancelled.
  4. Train No.: 22675-Chennai Igmore-Tiruchirappalli, Cholan Express scheduled to leave Chennai Igmore at 07:45 on December 2, 2024 has also been completely cancelled.
  5. Train No.: 06028- Villupuram – Tambaram MEMU passenger train scheduled to depart from Villupuram on December 2, 2024 at 05:20 has also been completely cancelled.
  6. Train No. 16116 – Pondicherry – Chennai Egmore Express, which was scheduled to depart from Pondicherry at 05:35, was completely canceled on December 2, 2024.

  1. Train No. 16866 – Thanjavur – Chennai Egmore Uzhavan Express departs from Thanjavur on December 1, 2024 at 21:55 and is diverted via Villupuram, Katpadi, Chennai Egmore and stops at Melmaruvattur, Chengalpattu, Tambaram and Mambalam.
  2. Train No. 16180 – Mannargudi – Chennai Egmore Express is scheduled to depart from Mangalore on December 1, 2024 at 22:35 and will be diverted via Villupuram, Katpadi, Chennai Egmore and stop at Chengalpattu, Tambaram and Mambalam.
  3. Train No. 16176 Karaikal – Tambaram Express was originally scheduled to depart Karaikal at 21:20 on December 1, 2024. It has been diverted via Villupuram, Katpadi, Chennai Egmore and skipped Chengalpattu station.
  4. Train No. 20682 – Sengottai Tambaram, Silambu Superfast Express, is scheduled to depart from Sengottai at 16:50 on December 1, 2024 and will be diverted via Villupuram, Katpadi, Chennai Egmore, skipping the stop at Chengalpattu.
