2024-09-24 12:26:45 : Sony is rumored to be bringing a State of Play demo, which will provide updates for more than 20 games. The show is set to air on Tuesday, September 24, and will feature upcoming games for PS5 and PS VR2. This news follows reports that the PlayStation parent company is planning a State of Play livestream in September.

Announce game status

The State of Play live broadcast will begin on Tuesday at 3 pm PT/6 pm ET, which means the show will start on Wednesday, September 25 at 3:30 am IST. Sony confirmed that the display will last more than 30 minutes, but did not provide details about what will be shown.

What to expect from the current situation

The company may showcase new trailers and updates for already-released first-party and third-party games. Sony may also announce major releases from its first-party studios. The company’s first-party slate has been quiet of late, with major studios like Santa Monica and Naughty Dog confirmed to be working on yet-to-be-announced games. Meanwhile, Sucker Punch hasn’t had an update in a while, but the developer is expected to be working on the much-anticipated sequel to Ghost of Tsushima.

Insomniac Games, one of Sony’s most prolific first-party studios, is developing Wolverine, which debuted as a trailer at the PlayStation Showcase in 2021. While Insomniac has launched Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 in 2023, the developer has not provided any information on updates for another Marvel superhero game. The State of Play broadcast may feature a new trailer for The Wolverine, but it’s best not to get your hopes up.

However, Sony is likely to announce a Horizon Zero Dawn remaster, an updated version of the 2017 game for PS5 and PC. Last week, a remake of Guerrilla Games’ action-adventure game appeared on the ESRB website. Other first-party games that Sony has announced include LEGO Horizon Adventures, which will be released later this year, and the Until Dawn remake, which will be released on PS5 and PC on October 4. The games could be showcased during the broadcast – perhaps confirming a release date for LEGO Horizon Adventures. A Lego-themed Horizon title.

On the third-party front, State of Play broadcasts may feature updates for released games such as Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding 2, action RPG Phantom Blade Zero and Silent Hill 2 Remastered. On the PS VR2 front, Sony can show off PC VR games as the headset is already supported through the official PS VR2 app on Steam.

The State of Play demo will be live-streamed in English and Japanese on PlayStation’s YouTube and Twitch channels.
