The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold is getting a new feature on one of the company’s first-party apps designed to enhance the meeting experience. On Google Meet, users can now use both the internal and external cameras of their smartphones during video meetings. While the feature was originally announced with the launch of the Pixel 9 Pro Fold in August, it’s now rolling out via a new Google Meet update.
Google Meet feature on Pixel 9 Pro Fold
Following the latest Google Meet update for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, first spotted by Android Authority , users can now access exclusive features on the phone. It allows them to use both the phone’s internal and external cameras while in meetings. The feature could potentially enable multiple participants to participate in a video conference without having to crowd around a single laptop.
Once triggered, other participants will be able to see the user through the front-facing camera, as well as what is in front of them.
Google first teased this feature when it launched the Pixel 9 Pro Fold in August. However, its rollout has only just begun. It is said to be available to users with both personal and workspace accounts. Gadgets 360 staff were able to verify its availability on the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
Other meeting features
Last month, the Mountain View-based tech giant began rolling out an artificial intelligence (AI) feature called “Take Notes for Me.” As the name suggests, it leverages Gemini, Google’s large language model (LLM), to transcribe and summarize key points during meetings.
It was first previewed last year and remained in beta until its launch in August, where it appeared as the Gemini AI icon in the upper right corner of the Meet interface. By default, the feature only takes notes but does not transcribe. However, users can also trigger a transcription of a meeting. A new document will be created in the organizer’s Google Drive.
This feature is available to Google Workspace users with Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education Premium, or AI Meetings & Messaging plug-ins.
