The story behind viewing crows as ancestors
According to legend, Jayant, the son of Indra Dev, took the form of a crow. When Ramji placed a straw in one of the crow’s eyes, the crow apologized to Shri Ram. Thereafter, Lord Rama blessed him to give the food given to the crow by Pitrupaksha to the ancestors. It is believed that crows have some knowledge of future events. Crows are also considered a sign of the arrival of guests.
