On the special instructions of President Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind Maulana Arshad Madani regarding the Waqf Amendment Bill 2024, members of Jamiat Ulama are continuously meeting the leaders of all opposition parties and members of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC). During these meetings, the Jamiat members are highlighting the harmful amendments of this bill and also trying to explain what harmful effects it may have on Muslims if the bill is passed. How can Muslims be deprived of their Waqf properties under the cover of such a law?

These meetings are going on at both national and state levels. In this regard, recently a delegation of Jamiat Ulama Maharashtra met NCP leader Balya Mama Mahatre, who is a member of JPC, and Shiv Sena MP Arvind Sawant in Mumbai. A joint delegation of All India Muslim Personal Law Board and Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind is also meeting Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin. In other states including Bihar too, members of Jamiat Ulama are meeting leaders of political parties and members of JPC and telling them about the shortcomings of the proposed bill and its harmful sections.

Expressing his reaction on this entire matter, Maulana Arshad Madani said that the details of the amendments that have come to light have transformed our apprehension that the government’s intentions regarding Waqf are not right. The purpose of the new bill that has been brought in the name of amendment is not to protect the Waqf property but to deprive the Muslims of this great heritage which their ancestors have left for the upliftment and welfare of the poor, destitute and needy Muslims. He said that this bill is an open interference in our religious matters and a big conspiracy.

He further said that a Muslim can bear every kind of loss but can never tolerate interference in his Shariat. Secondly, this bill is also an attack on the constitutional rights given to Muslims. The Constitution of the country has given every citizen the right to freely follow their religious beliefs and rules along with religious freedom. The present government wants to snatch this religious freedom given in the Constitution by making various types of laws.
