Srinagar, September 24: Dr. Mehboob Beg, former MP and general secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (Organization), criticized the BJP for indulging in drama and failing to respect Maharaja Hari Singh in the manner he deserved.
Dr. Beg said in a statement that the BJP is not above politicizing and distorting the truth about those they want us to believe are their heroes.
“The drama of announcing a holiday on Maharaja Hari Singh’s birth anniversary is nothing but a farce,” he commented.
“The BJP must explain why they downplayed the national subject status that the Maharaja held so dear. They must also tell us why they played with the identity of the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh – which was so important to the Maharaja,” he said while asking the PPP to answer these questions.
“Let the BJP uphold the importance of the ideals and identity of the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and respect the Maharaja in a due manner. Declaring a holiday on his birth anniversary and murdering many of the ideals he held dear and Not a tribute to the Maharaja,” Beg concluded.
